met Crystle for the first time yesterday before the halloween shoot. Deniece and Rin brought her along. she hasn't really modeled before but you wouldn't know it by her openness and her drive to get the best photo we can.

Ms. Guam contestant, Rika. she's gone and grown up quite a long way since i've met her. funny, charming and beautiful.

Canon 60D

new camera available now from Canon. same family as the 7d and 550D using the same sensor.

the difference being that, the 7D utilizes double processors to enable it to shoot at very fast frame rates(8fps) while the 60D can shoot in 5.3fps.

besides video and the variable tilting screen i don't really see anything special. i think for now the, 50D is still the better option.

i remember back in the college days hangin with friends at the UOG study hall. there was this young woman sitting on the bench under the tree the kind many people wouldn't think to be beautiful by today's tv standards.
one day a guy comes up and starts to talk to her and after a while they start to date.

many people today it seems are becoming shallower and shallower but a "beauty" who can't find a decent man vs. a "not beauty" who can... what does it say about our society?

it was a great time.

this is Manila traffic. total chaos if you are coming from driving in the states but in manila there's a method to this chaos and its understood.
hardly any accidents.

Darelle posed for my photographer buddy, Lewis and i yesterday at the Plaza de Espana in agana. i thought it was idead to shoot when the sun was about to set and the buildings nearby blocking it out so we can get even lighting.
the shoot turned out really well.

i thin i am coming up with a cold. busy day at work this morning exacerbated by the rain that i got soaked in doing stuff above and beyond whats called of me. if they only knew, eh?

have some photo projects i have to get done. well, photography is done but the editing, the editing i have been putting off. i need to get around to it and just finish it.

Lightroom has been working very well for me though i need a faster laptop to fully utilize its capabilities.

have a few checks i need to cash from other jobs. i just have to get around to getting to the bank. tomorrow i guess, its my days off and bills are due... coincidence? ha!

i've been experimenting with light streaks again. i used to do this a lot when i shot with my G5 all the time. now that i have a 10-22 lens. its super wide enough to capture great motion.







also some hdr's but subtle. i like to process it the way the eye would have seen the view.

almost half of march

almost half of march,wow! it seems like the days are going fast! seems like the year just started.

spoke to my boss about my upcoming vacation. he said it was okay but won't let me go for more than two weeks and i was thinking 3 weeks at the least, hmm.. one week in the province and one week in Manila? will have to resolve this soon, april is just around the corner.

last night, fellow photographers and i went to club Karisma to check out, the Mocha Girls. i didn't know much about them until i saw their performance and met them in person. very nice and very sexy ladies. Mocha, the leader of the group. very sexy and very controversial(at least for Philippines standards- as driven by the media).
Still the show was nice. the ladies were nice.

Guam beauty

Kara and i met a year or two prior to this shoot. we talked about the kind of shoot we'd do and other nuances of the overall experience.
after that meeting i didn't see her again until we did this shoot. the shoot started out kinda "cold", meaning we were getting comfortable with the scene with the situation but after a few moments we warmed up and made some great photos.

november rain

this song title fits perfectly to whats going on the last week. we had a typhoon that missed us(again, whew!).
nov. 28, i was 0ut on the golf course and got caught in a sudden rain fall. strong rain and me trying to take shelter from my golf cart. that didn't work out. i was soaked! but i was in that situation and i noticed how beautiful the scene was. the visibility of the course was bad! couldn't see out too far because of the cover of rain.

death of a friend

recent tragic incident with a friend who passed away so young. he died at the tender age of 44.
he was a great photographer who mastered his craft and was always willing to teach anyone. was well known and loved amongst many people and photographers.

Roel Santiago was my friend and mentor but when we hung out it never seemed that way. it was just about having a good time and learning in fun as we went along.

i miss my buddy, Roel. i am sure that wherever he is now. he's making them smile.

starting again

it has been MONTHS since i've posted. many life experiences have past. many good times. many memories. many friends have come into my life who've helped me transition in age and experience..

here's a golfing experience with my brother, Mark and i at Onward Talofofo Golf club. it was a nice sunny day. my golf game has since gotten a lot better.

HIN hot import night, Guam

well, last night was the Hot import night on island at Yigo. it was pretty crowded but it rained constantly. kinda pissed me off.
what was good though was to see other photographer friends shooting.

got off work at 1030am today. perfect timing for me- lots of room to enjoy the remainder of this nice weather weekend.

last night, i went to Hard Rock with Lori for that MTV promotion. boy did that place suck! it wasn't at all like clubbing in the ole days. i guess times have changed.

starting again-august

well, i am back once again. a lot has happpened since last i posted. besides shooting photos - i have been working at Mangilao Golf club. its not a bad gig, the people are generally nice and work is...work. not taxing to the mind kind of work, if you know what i mean. to think i went to college for 5 years only to end up doing something like this(my college experiences of which i do not regret).
can't be a complainer though. i just do what i need to do and leave work when its time to leave. i admit i'm somewhat anti-social but no biggie really. i have friends outside of work.

friends who are filled with drama! oh lordy, Drama doesn't even come close to describing what my friends are going through(they're doing it to themselves). somehow it usually involves having an affair with another friend who is married or "attached".
i am glad i escaped unscathe from all that drama. i know when to say when and i know when to stir up the room.
